In 2005, Gibrahayer e-magazine put to good use their network across the Armenian diaspora to assist a talented girl in Armenia.
15 year old Zaruhi Harutyunyan's tennis successes started in the island of love, at The Aphrodite Cup - an international ITF tennis tournament in Nicosia and continued in London, Bolis and Los Angeles.
More than US 40,000 dollars were raised to fund her tour that saw her defeat the world number 38 and world number 6.
She jumped from 1,246 to a top 100 ranking before ending up at Weil Academy under the guidance and sponsorship of Dick Bedrossian in London and brother Haig Bedrossian in Los Angeles, who headed the campaign to raise money.
She now attends Akron in California on a scholarship and is playing the tennis tour in the United States, continueing her road to professional tennis.
Contributions coming our way first ensure our e-magazine's very existence. The Internet world is a costly venture. It is also a medium through which we can, quickly and effectively move forward, set objectives and attain them.
Just like with Zaruhi - we are determined to give back to our communities, by encouraging young Armenians who are seeking support, to have the opportunity to exploit their full potential.
To that end we stand committed to seek and promote young talents with potential in all walks of Armenian life.
